
Both Smugglers Adventure Caves and Hastings Castle are located in the heart of Hastings on the West Hill. With fantastic views overlooking the old town and sea front.
From the old town or seafront take the West Hill Cliff Railway, which is located on George Street or simply walk up the hill via signposted pathways on George Street and High Street.
By Car
If you’re driving to Hastings from the Channel Ports, Channel Tunnel, or from Brighton, take the A259 coastal road and follow the beautiful scenic route straight into the heart of Hastings.
To reach us from the M25, take the A21 at junction 5 to travel directly into Hastings.
We are located in the heart of Hastings on the West Hill. There is some pay-and-display parking on Priory Road and some free parking on the surrounding residential roads.
If you are approaching the West Hill from Hastings Old Town, we recommend taking the West Hill Cliff Railway, which is located on George Street. Or simply walk via signposted pathways on George Street and High Street to all of the attractions.
Public Transport
By Train: Hastings Station is located less than a mile from the West Hill Cliff Railway station (approximately a 20 minute walk). Hastings is well connected with excellent rail links throughout East and West Sussex and London. To view train times and prices please visit National Rail.

Please Note
We are not responsible for any closures or service interruptions of the West Hill Cliff Railway. If it is closed, there are several alternative ways to reach us. You can walk by following the clearly marked signs through the Old Town. From George Street, you can also walk up ‘The Hundred Steps’ located next to the West Hill lift entrance. Coburg Place also offers pedestrian access up the hill via a set of steps. Alternatively, you can drive and use on-street parking on Priory Road or other designated parking areas around the West Hill.
